How to cook on an electric grill?

An electric grill is a convenient equipment for cooking meat, vegetables and poultry. The main advantages of the grill are its compactness, safety and the complete absence of an open fire. To cook a dish, you need no more than fifteen minutes. And the taste of homemade barbecue is no different from the taste of meat that you roast in nature by the campfire. At the same time, the products are baked evenly and quickly, and you do not risk getting burned. The electric grill can be used both at home and at the cottage. The main thing is to understand how the system works and follow simple rules.

How does an electric grill work?

An electric grill is a modern device for cooking, powered by an electrical network. It consists of a housing, one or two heating panels and a temperature control system. After turning on the device, the heating elements begin to heat up quickly, ensuring uniform heating of the surface. The temperature can be adjusted manually depending on the type of product you are cooking.

What are electric grills?

There are two main types of grill:

  • Open – the food is cooked only on the bottom panel, as in a frying pan or a classic barbecue grill. This option is suitable for toasting vegetables, toast and fish.
  • Closed – the lid of the appliance fits snugly to the product, ensuring roasting on both sides at the same time. This speeds up the cooking process and gives the dish a ruddy crust.

Some models have additional features such as automatic temperature control, non-stick coating and the ability to change plates for cooking different types of dishes. Before use, it is recommended to warm up the grill for 3-5 minutes to reach the optimal temperature. This ensures better roasting and prevents food from sticking.

Working with an electric grill does not require oil, which makes dishes healthier, and cooking is simple and convenient.

Juicy Steak

Juicy steak on an electric grill
Ingredients:

  • 2 beef steaks (for example, rib eye or striploin)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried garlic
  • 1 tsp rosemary or thyme
  • 1 tsp butter (optional)
  • 1 clove garlic (optional)

Preparation:

  1. Wipe the meat with a paper towel, remove the veins and excess moisture.
  2. Take the seasonings and rub the steaks with salt, pepper, dried garlic and rosemary. Brush with olive oil and leave for 10-15 minutes.
  3. Preheat the grill to a high temperature (about 200°C).
  4. Place the steaks on a hot surface. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side for Medium roast, 3-4 minutes for Medium Rare, or 6-7 minutes for Well Done.
  5. If desired, add butter and crushed garlic clove to the steak for flavor a minute before cooking.
  6. Transfer the steaks to a plate, cover with foil and let them rest for 5-7 minutes before serving.
  7. Serve with a side dish of fresh vegetables or baked potatoes.

Ingredients:

  • 1 squash
  • 1 eggplant
  • 1 sweet pepper
  • 1 onion
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp. Provencal herbs
  • 2 garlic cloves (optional)

Preparation:

  1. Wash the vegetables thoroughly and dry them with a paper towel.
  2. Cut the zucchini and eggplant into circles about 5 mm thick, pepper strips, onion rings, and tomatoes in half.
  3. Lightly brush the vegetables with olive oil on both sides.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the salt, pepper, herbs of Provence and crushed garlic. Sprinkle this mixture over the vegetables.
  5. Preheat the electric grill to medium temperature (about 180°C).
  6. Place the vegetables on a hot surface in a single layer. Do not overload the grill so that they bake well.
  7. Cook for 5-7 minutes, turning them over every 2-3 minutes until golden brown. 8. Serve hot, drizzled with olive oil and garnished with fresh herbs. If desired, you can add grated feta cheese or goat cheese for extra flavor.

Grilled cheese and ham sandwich

Ingredients:

  • 2 slices of bread (preferably ciabatta or toast bread)
  • 2 slices of hard cheese (cheddar, gouda or mozzarella)
  • 2 slices of ham (can be replaced with turkey or chicken)
  • 1 tsp butter
  • 1 tsp mustard (optional)
  • 1 tsp mayonnaise (optional)
  • 2-3 slices of tomato (optional)
  • A pinch of dried oregano or basil (to taste)

Preparation:

  1. Spread one slice of bread with a thin layer of butter on the outside.
  2. The inside can be lightly greased with mustard or mayonnaise for extra flavor.
  3. Place slices of cheese and ham on the bread. If you want, add tomatoes and some dried herbs for flavor.
  4. Cover with a second slice of bread and also brush the outside with butter.
  5. Preheat the electric grill to medium heat.
  6. Place the sandwich on the grill and press the lid down. Cook for 3-5 minutes, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has melted.
  7. Take out the sandwich, let it cool slightly, then cut into halves and serve hot.
  8. This sandwich can be served with a light salad or sauce, such as garlic or tomato.
