Description
The Kamado Monolith offers unmatched versatility, adapting to a range of cooking functions based on your setup. Often referred to as the "Japanese economy kitchen," this traditional cooking tool has a history stretching back thousands of years. Earthenware cooking pots, believed to be the predecessors of the modern Kamado, have been used globally for millennia, with some dating back over 4,000 years. The oldest examples, found in the Indus Valley and China, are thought to be the origin of the Kamado's iconic design, which has evolved from clay to high-performance ceramics.
The term "Kamado" translates to "cooking stove" in Japanese, and its legacy continued in 1970 when Eddie Fisher, impressed by the flavor of food cooked in Kamados, decided to import them to the U.S. In 1974, he began crafting his own versions using modern ceramics to replace the fragile clay. This move revolutionized Kamado cooking, introducing it to the South U.S., South America, and eventually Europe.
Kamado Monolith's design offers key advantages, including precise temperature control and the ability to smoke or grill food to your exact taste. Its heat distribution is flawless, with no hot spots, resulting in a more economical and cleaner cooking experience compared to wood or traditional ovens.
The Avantgarde model, the pinnacle of Kamado Monolith's years of design expertise, combines high-quality silicate ceramics with stainless steel hardware. Features like the stapled fiberglass gasket and the LED light built into the bamboo handle demonstrate the attention to detail that sets this brand apart.
Technically based on the Monolith Le Chef, the largest Kamado in the Monolith family, the Avantgarde model is a powerhouse. Weighing 140 kg with a 55 cm grill diameter, it’s ideal for cooking large quantities of meat or preparing multiple dishes simultaneously. The optional second-level supplementary grill doubles the cooking surface, allowing for even more versatility. The Kamado’s innovative wood chip loading system ensures smoking without heat loss, allowing you to add wood chips directly to the coals without lifting the lid.
Additionally, the Monolith Le Chef offers a range of accessories, such as cast iron cooking grates, pizza stones, griddles, and wok holders, expanding your cooking possibilities. Monolith products are known for their incredible durability and ease of use, and the Avantgarde is no exception.
Key features include:
- A robust fiberglass/stainless steel gasket system for virtually maintenance-free grilling
- A digital controller connector port, allowing for easy upgrades as technology evolves.
- An incredibly versatile grill grid system (SGS), offering four height settings and the option to expand to three grill levels.
After years of development, the Avantgarde offers both technical excellence and timeless design. Monolith’s strengthened frame, equipped with an accessory shelf and side tables, combined with the new Satin-Matt enamel finish, provides a stylish, weather-resistant, and acid-resistant surface that complements the stainless steel components beautifully.
